I felt as though I finally had an opportunity to really see the candidates as whom they really they are. For the first time, I really felt like the conversation was civil and accentuated the differences of both candidates.
I was delighted to see how engaging and confident Sen. John Kerry was in answering the questions. I felt he had a firm grasp of the facts and was clear and articulate about what he viewed as mistakes and presented thoughtful ideas on how he might correct them.
I found myself disappointed with President Bush’s performance. The topic for the evening is supposedly the President’s strong suit, and yet the Senator seemed to have all the answers. I was also turned off by the President’s dismissive demeanor and his repeated efforts to dodge the questions.
I felt that Senator Kerry stood up and clearly articulated what he believed while the President seemed to be lacking anything substantive. Once the debate concluded, the first thought that went through my mind was, wow, Kerry looks more Presidential than ever before.
